Luftgekühlt 10 at Universal Studios brought together passionate Porsche enthusiasts and legendary air-cooled cars. As a commercial photographer, I captured the magic of this iconic event.

At Luftgekuhlt 6, Porsche fans gathered at Universal Studios Backlot to celebrate air-cooled classics like the Porsche 914. With iconic cars like the 930 Turbo set against cinematic backdrops, this event offered unforgettable moments for car enthusiasts and photographers alike.

I brought the new Sony A9 along with 2 lenses. The new Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM and the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS. I've been using and testing this system in addition to my A7R II since the beginning of summer.

Q: What do you love about photography?

A: Everything. I was an artistic kid… I loved drawing and painting. My dad would take me to car shows and air shows and let me take pictures with his camera. (This was long before camera camera phones.) In college, I would ditch History to go to the darkroom. I’m equally passionate about the art and technology sides of photography. I dream about cameras. I’m not kidding.

I recently had a client in need of some superhero like images for a Silicon Valley Comic Con related campaign. Focus would be of actual employees from an accounting software company. The client did a terrific job with casting. These non professional real people models were perfect. We created a ton of images over a two day period. A day in San Diego and another in Silicon Valley.

While photographing this Porsche in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was surprised by two wild things. At one point I crawled out of the car to swap lenses and a large wild turkey walked around the corner a few feet away. It looked right at me and was apparently very surprised to find me standing there. It gobbled, screamed and ran off franticly. Almost cartoon like.

During a recent San Jose heat wave, I suspected my old school thermostat was on the fritz. I ran to home depot and picked up a Nest Learning Thermostat. Upon opening the box, I realized it was a pretty slick product so I decided to make a few images with it before I slapped it on the wall.

Salton Sea Landscape Photographs From 223 ft Below Sea Level

In terms of area covered, many Californians (not just those featured in “The Californians” from Saturday Night Live) would be surprised to find out the largest lake in our state is not Lake Tahoe.  About an hour south of Palm Desert, CA you will find the Salton Sea.
